For the last five years I have concentrated on painting natural landscapes with inspiration taken from the places I spend the most time; the Catalonian coast, the Pyrenees mountains and the moorlands of northern England.


I try to capture and translate a mood within my work based on limitless horizons and the ethereal qualities of light affecting landscapes and seascapes. The images created are suggestive rather than descriptive so it is possible for the viewer to interpret and respond to them individually.


One landscape holds many possibilities and perspectives. Sometimes dramatic, other times hazy and subdued. I am particularly interested in the overall effects of changing light and the idea of capturing a moment in time.

Sketches and photographs form the basis for each piece of work. Paint and other mediums are applied in a variety of methods and each canvas then evolves naturally throughout the painting process until ultimately it takes on it’s own shape. Colour and form are simplified to capture the true essence of the subject matter.
