Aurélie Lethu: Artista
French native, I have lived in Rennes, Paris, Montreal and London. I am now based in Barcelona. These different experiences along with my training and practice as an architect helped to forge my sensibility.
I have grown up feeling a strong link to art, experimenting with various techniques and supports. First quite academic, my style evolved gradually towards what could be considered abstract expressionism.
To create and experiment are a necessity for me, a unique instrument to express a sensitive and intimate vision.
My inspiration comes from the magic of colours and textures found in natural elements. Its origin lies in my passion for the sea, for its infinite dimension as well as its variety of light in constant evolution.
I am also fascinated with the intensity of red tones. A colour palette you could find in rusted metal or in landscapes set ablaze by a warm light.
It is important for me to express in art the fullness of textures and the strength of colours that surround us.
When I paint, I bring natural pigments into life by blending them. I enjoy the sensation of seeing the colour emerging gradually and with it, a voluptuous texture always in evolution.
