Gracia Arts Project

Alice Ladenburg:
Artista

I work with pencils, paint, crayon, video, people moving in a parade like fashion, doilies, fortune cookies etc… what ever lends itself to my ideas and possesses a potentially engaging appeal for the viewer/participant/me.

Through the use of contemporary advertising techniques and the maintenance of the importance of ‘art’ as a reflection of freedom of thought and expression, I wish to intrigue the viewer/participant sufficiently so as to lure them into a situation that I will call an ‘art experience’.

My work is malleable to the demands that a situation makes of it. It can be attractively framed, labelled and priced, it can taste delicious and served with a glass of wine, it can make a lot of noise, cause strife/laugher, and may lead to quiet contemplation. Although my work will, on occasion, sit quietly and go unnoticed, for better or for worse, it will normally physically/emotionally/intellectually affect the viewer/participant in one way or another.
