Alex Santafé:
Artista

Alejandro Santafé, Granollers (Barcelona) 1984

Interested in nature and drawing since a little kid and taught at the oil tecnique when I was 11, I continued painting as a self-taught and developing painting since then as a way of life. Purely interested in expression and philosophy, rather than on tecnique and beauty, instead of a fine arts degree, I choosed to study Philosophy at Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona. I firstly approached painting with a monolithic and hermetic work, based on matter and informalism with reminiscences of art brut and arte povera, mixing non painting classical artistic objects: like sand, marble dust or chalk. But as time went on, I got soon influenced by the work of Spinoza, Heidegger or Sartre, with immanentism, humanism, or the problem of exhistence, I lead to a develop of painting dedicated to organic forms, raised from nothing and flowing on the whitness of the paper, giving the conflict bitween the whiteness and the figure, an abstract organic expressionistic painting. A non depicting painting, an expressionist way of refering to human self discordances, fears and conciousness from organic or inorganic materials and forms. A language with no cathegories, free of a formal language, free of speech. Nature not as a reference but as an origin and destiny of human behaviours.

I have exposed in several one man shows since the year 2004 in Barcelona and the metropolitan area, including the Philosophy faculty at Universitat Autonoma and La Casa Elizalde Arts Center, as well as online shows like: DeviantArt, ArtPlot, Artelista and Saatchi-Gallery.
